The Kansas City Chiefs have had an open roster spot since releasing wide receiver Justyn Ross last week.
On Monday they filled that need by signing undrafted rookie free agent WR Hal Presley III.

Presley signed with the Buffalo Bills following the 2025 NFL Draft, but was released after rookie minicamp. He played his college ball at Baylor, recording 81 receptions for 1,048 yards and seven touchdowns in four seasons with the Bears.
Presley's best year came in 2024 when he caught 31 passes for 429 yards and three TDs. At six-foot-3 and 193 pounds, he will be a natural replacement for Ross. Presley is joining a very competitive Chiefs WR group, and is obviously a longshot to make the 53-man roster or even the practice squad.
However, Presley will have the opportunity to put together good film for another team to look at. Kansas City doesn't have many WRs his size, so he could stand out similarly to how Ross did in previous training camps. Presley will have to quickly learn as much of the playbook as he can to get on the field.
It is interesting to note that Presley beat out Amari Rodgers and Seth Williams, who both have NFL experience. Rodgers was a third-round draft pick in 2021 who had relatively high expectations, but hasn't been able to find his footing in the league. Williams has bounced around multiple practice squads, and spent a small amount of time on the Denver Broncos' 53-man roster.
As the Chiefs take the field for their first training camp practice on Tuesday, here is a look at the WRs they have under contract for 2025:
