The 2024 season didn't go the way Chiefs wide receiver Hollywood Brown hoped.
Brown projected to be a big piece of Kansas City's offense after signing a one-year contract with the team during free agency. He had a strong training camp, but suffered a rare sternoclavicular joint injury in Week 1 of the preseason. That would cost him the first 14 weeks of the regular season.
Brown looked solid when he returned, but could only do so much after missing that much time. In five games (including the postseason), he caught 14 passes for 141 yards. The Chiefs re-signed Brown to another one-year deal in 2025 in hopes to get what they thought they would get from him the year previous.
K.C. opened its mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, and Brown spoke to the media after practice about how he's handled the offseason.
"A lot of training," Brown said. "Last year, it was a good transition back into football, but now I'm able to train and build my body the way I want to. I've been enjoying it, though, enjoying the process."
Brown went on to say that he is grateful that he got to play at all and contribute last year.
"I really leaned on my faith," Brown said. "I was coming back really just trying to help whichever way I could. And that was my mindset, and that helped carry me through the end of last year. So, I was just really grateful that I even had the opportunity to come back."
Brown added that he is a full-go right now and has no limitations.
"I'm back 100 percent, doing my offseason work," Brown said.
Finally, Brown revealed his main goal heading into the 2025 season.
"God willing, a healthy season," Brown said. "It's my number one goal, just being able to really showcase what I can do. That's all I'm looking to do."
A healthy Brown could really take the Chiefs' offense back to the explosive days of quarterback Patrick Mahomes' early years. With Rashee Rice also returning from injury and Xavier Worthy now having a year of experience under his belt, K.C.'s WR corps could be lethal in 2025. Brown does have an extensive injury history, so others such as JuJu Smith-Schuster and Jalen Royals will also need to be ready to contribute.
