Patrick Mahomes has embraced his "dad bod" while achieving unparalleled success for the Kansas City Chiefs. A local radio host nevertheless threw a temper tantrum over the star quarterback's physique.
Photos surfaced of a shirtless Mahomes celebrating the Fourth of July with family and friends. His body wasn't chiseled enough for Kevin Kietzman, who ranted about the three-time Super Bowl champion.
"Vacation photos are popping up of Patrick Mahomes, and he's fat," Kietzman said on Kevin Kietzman Has Issues. "I'm gonna say it, and I'm gonna tell you the truth. He's an embarrassment."
Surely, some guy with a radio show knows more about physical training than an NFL superstar and his team.
"You're a $500 million quarterback," Kietzman continued. "You've made all these comments in the offseason that, 'We're gonna do our talking on the field, we got our butts kicked in the Super Bowl, we're coming back with a vengeance'... Dude, you're fat. Your belly would be fat at my pool, hanging out with us 60-year-olds. Stop. Stop the fast food. Do a sit-up. Do something."
Well, Kietzman tried warning everyone about him with his show's title.
It should go without saying, but Mahomes is obviously in better shape than the overwhelming majority of said 60-year-olds complaining because he doesn't have six-pack abs.
Mahomes may not be as diligent about his body as Tom Brady, and perhaps the 29-year-old could cut down on the Coors Light. However, the two-time MVP hasn't missed a game due to injury -- despite spraining his ankle last year -- in the last four seasons.
In fact, Mahomes has often credited his "dad bod" for helping him absorb hits and stay healthy through a grueling NFL season.
Don't count on the Chiefs following in the Dallas Mavericks' footsteps and trading their superstar player because of his physique. Mahomes will continue to bolster his legacy as a future Hall of Famer while loudmouths like Kietzman yell nonsense for attention.
