Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs suffered a brutal Super Bowl LIX loss to the Philadelphia Eagles this past Sunday, falling with a 40-22 final score in New Orleans.

This final score wasn't representative of just how lopsided the game actually was. All three of Mahomes' touchdowns and most of his passing yards came in the final two quarters of the game as the Eagles' celebrated their title victory on the sideline.

Mahomes threw two interceptions in Sunday's blowout loss, including a pick-six to Philadelphia rookie Cooper DeJean in the second quarter. The superstar quarterback finished the first half with 33 yards and two interceptions on 6/14 passing.

This disappointing performance resulted in some intense criticism directed toward Mahomes. According to NFL insider Kay Adams, this criticism will "fuel" the Chiefs QB as he heads into the 2025 season.

"Lot of Chiefs haters basking in the glory of the loss, rubbing the salt in. the wounds," Adams said during a recent episode of Up & Adams. "Think we are under reacting to what this is going to do for Patrick Mahomes. Make no mistake, he's an all-time greta already. This kind of stuff will only fuel him."

While Mahomes and the Chiefs fell short of their ultimate Super Bowl three-peat goals this year, the franchise's dominance over the last few seasons is undeniable. Through eight NFL seasons, Mahomes has five Super Bowl appearances and three Super Bowl rings.

Mahomes' first championship loss came against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV. After losing to the Cincinnati Bengals in the following year's AFC Championship, Mahomes and his Kansas City squad bounced back with back-to-back Super Bowl titles.

“Obviously the turnovers hurt,” Mahomes said after this year's Super Bowl loss. “I take all the blame for that... It’s hard to come back from that in a Super Bowl.”

“I’ll have to learn from that and try to be better the next opportunity that I hopefully get,” Mahomes continued. “... Hopefully we can learn from this… and try to continue to get even better, because it’s going to take better football, especially from me, in order to try to make a run at another Super Bowl."
