Kayshon Boutte has been traded by Patriots

After an offseason of rumors, the New England Patriots have finally traded wide receiver Kayshon Boutte.

Boutte is being dealt to the Houston Texans, according to Tom Pelissero of The Ringer. Houston is giving up a draft pick and safety Jaylen Reed to acquire Boutte.

The move is not a surprise, as Boutte is one of several wide receivers the Texans had been targeting in trade talks. Houston has a dire need for receiving depth after losing Jayden Higgins to a season-ending injury. Nico Collins is locked in as the team’s No. 1, but it is not clear when Tank Dell will be back as he continues to recover from the knee injury he suffered last year.

An LSU product, Boutte caught 33 passes for 551 yards and six touchdowns. While he has shown himself capable of making some spectacular grabs, he never quite broke in as a regular in New England.

Boutte has had a strong camp, but the Patriots deemed him expendable after bringing in AJ Brown and Romeo Doubs during the offseason. The Texans will hope they can benefit from his availability.
