Keenan Allen admits he wanted to ‘finish’ his career with Chargers before blockbuster Bears move
Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports

When Keenan Allen entered the football field in 2023, he never even thought that it would be his last season with the Los Angeles Chargers. Since his NFL career began, the wide receiver’s loyalty has only been to the Chargers, but now he is moving to the Windy City and so is his loyalty.

As mentioned earlier, Allen didn’t want to leave Los Angeles but he was also not ready to take the pay cut like his peers especially when he had the best season of his career last season with phenomenal statistics. Moreover, he racked up more than 900 receptions and 10,000 receiving yards with the Chargers. But now, it’s finally time for him to move on to the next chapter of his career– Chicago Bears

While addressing the trade rumors to the Bears, the perennial Pro Bowl wide receiver revealed he wanted to “finish” his NFL career with the Chargers. But things don’t always work out as one plans them to, in life. And that’s the story of Allen.

Allen said during Saturday’s press conference:

I'm definitely excited about the new opportunity. Being with a new organization, this organization has a lot of tradition. Obviously wanted to finish my career [with the Chargers], but things happen and you've got to keep on going. Keenan Allen said

Keenan Allen aims to form a dynamic duo with DJ Moore

While talking about his move to the Bears, Allen also elaborated on his goals with the franchise, stating he was ready to form a strong duo with wide receiver DJ Moore, regardless of who the franchise makes the starting quarterback. Given, Allen’s press conference held before the Bears decided to trade Justin Fields, the wideout is mostly likely to have Caleb Williams as the starter next season.

The six-time Pro Bowler is confident in his ability to handle the opponents on a football field. He said in his Saturday press conference:

I just think I’m friendly for the quarterback because I’ll be in the right spots. I know how to communicate with him and my body language is solid, too. Keenan Allen said

This offseason, the Bears have proved that they are serious about winning next season through their actions. And as they have the No. 1 pick in the upcoming draft, there’s no doubt that the USC star would join the roster.
