Keenan Allen Comments On Julian Edelman’s WR Rankings

Producing points isn’t a problem for the Los Angeles Chargers.

Last season, they finished fifth in points and third in passing yards per game.

Much of the credit goes to Justin Herbert, who has been sensational since he took over the team.

However, he wouldn’t be successful without a talented group of receivers.

The Chargers have Mike Williams, who had 1,146 yards and nine touchdowns in 2021.

Then there’s Keenan Allen, who had 1,138 yards and six scores.

Allen might not be the first name you’ll hear when football fans and experts are asked about the top wideouts in the game.

But Super Bowl LIII Most Valuable Player Julian Edelman thinks that the Cal alumnus belongs at the summit.

During his recent guesting on the I Am Athlete podcast, Edelman named Davante Adams, Allen, and Cooper Kupp in that order.

To which Allen responded, “Big bro got em salty with this one. @Edelman11.”

That ranking will certainly get polarizing reactions, especially after Kupp’s historic 2021 performance with the Los Angeles Rams.

Some would argue that winning the position’s triple crown should put Kupp over Allen.

He also became the MVP of Super Bowl LVI to cap off a fantastic season.

The Case For Keenan Allen

Allen has an edge if the discussion boiled down to consistency.

In five seasons, Kupp has only had two seasons with over 1,000 yards.

Therefore, the peak of his career might have just started and that’s a scary thought for the rest of the league.

Meanwhile, Allen has five 1,000-yard seasons, including three straight from 2017 to 2019.

It could have been five straight, but he ended up eight yards shy of the mark in 2020.

Therefore, the Chargers are surging as contenders because Allen is a reliable option.

That’s a luxury they have as they try to break a three-year postseason drought.
