The Kansas City Chiefs will enter an NFL season for the first time in three years, not being the defending champions.
After devastatingly losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl, some think the Chiefs' reign of terror in the NFL is over, but be warned - they still have the weaponry to cause problems.
For now, that still includes Travis Kelce, who is in the news at the moment for a variety of reasons.
A video from the Super Bowl shows Kelce tangling with Eagles defensive tackle Jordan Davis ... with Kelce ultimately shoving him.
Kelce was not flagged for taunting or unnecessary roughness for the play, and now we know the NFL had ultimately determined he will not face a fine, either.
Then there is the retirement issue, as Taylor Swift's boyfriend has asked the Chiefs for a bit of time to contemplate his future at age 35.
If he returns? KC is the better for it. And if not?
With Patrick Mahomes still upright, along with Andy Reid's wizardry at play-calling, the Chiefs will once again be in the thick of AFC contenders in 2025, but can they go one better and win the Super Bowl?
For ESPN's Dan Graziano, the Chiefs' revenge tour not only takes them back to the Super Bowl, but he has them winning it over the Washington Commanders.
"Chiefs over Commanders," Graziano writes. "I'm not taking the result of one game to mean the Chiefs are done winning Super Bowls with Patrick Mahomes. Look forward to two weeks of "Is Jayden Daniels the next Mahomes?" conversations leading up to the Super Bowl next season."
To get back to the NFL's ultimate game, it will take a mountain of work, and the roster will look vastly different with a host of Mahomes' weapons in Marquise Brown, DeAndre Hopkins, and Juju Smith-Schuster, all free agents. Plus Travis Kelce's future is uncertain too.
Still, with Mahomes under center, the Chiefs are always going to be a threat, regardless of what No. 15 has around him as his supporting cast. But the Super Bowl loss has taken some of the shine off Kansas City's invincibility aura, with every other team getting the blueprint to stop Mahomes.
However, knowing the plan and executing it are two different things.
A Super Bowl win in 2025 for the Chiefs? With or without Kelce ... There's no reason why they can't.
