Add another hire for the Kellen Moore coaching staff.
From a Tuesday morning report by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the New Orleans Saints are hiring Scott Tolzien to be their new quarterbacks coach.
Tolzien was someone I had paired to Moore's staff almost a week ago. His contract recently expired with the Dallas Cowboys, and he was an offensive assistant there for years, especially when Moore was the offensive coordinator.
Tolzien, a former quarterback in the NFL from 2011-2017, got his coaching start as an analyst with Wisconsin in 2019. From there, he'd spend 2020-2024 with Dallas, serving as a coaching assistant (2020-2022) and then quarterbacks coach (2023-2024).
Tracking Kellen Moore's New Orleans Saints Coaching Staff Hires
This becomes the fourth hire for Kellen Moore's staff, and there's still the matter of hiring an offensive coordinator and assistants for that side of the ball. For the defense, it's a blank canvas. However, we'd expect that to change rather quickly.
Moore has added Joel Thomas (running backs), Brendan Nugent (offensive line) and Chase Haslett (tight ends) while also keeping on wide receivers coach Keith Williams.
