After a weeks-long saga of speculation as to where he would play next season, the rumor mill has finally cooled down with Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford. On Feb. 28, the Rams announced that they had reached an agreement with the 37-year-old signal caller to keep him in LA for the 2025 season.
While the NFL vet has expressed his gratitude to remain in Los Angeles, it appears that no one is happier about this resolution than his wife, Kelly Stafford. On Thursday's episode of her "The Morning After" podcast, Kelly appeared alongside her husband to discuss how this offseason drama had taken a toll on them -- all while emphasizing their relief in being able to move on.
"He's very good at compartmentalizing everything," she said. "Me, on the other hand, when he says 'You think about the uncertainty all the time, you go crazy,' I went (expletive) mad... The uncertainty killed me in a lot of ways, but at the end of the day, what I want is what's best for [Matthew]."
Kelly also had high praise for Rams head coach Sean McVay, namely for how he handled the process of figuring out what was next for the two-time Pro Bowl quarterback.
"Sean has always been such a good communicator in every aspect," she said. "I just felt like he wanted to make sure that everything was good for everybody, and I was grateful for that.
Matthew Stafford drew plenty of interest from a variety of potential suitors over the last month, including the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Giants, before ultimately agreeing to restructure his contract with the Rams and stay put for this coming season.
