Kenny Golladay warns Giants offense could start 'slow' early in season

New York Giants top wide receiver Kenny Golladay only joined the team via free agency in March but, as Nick Shook noted for the league's website, was sidelined for much of August with a hamstring injury. That setback made Golladay similar to star running back Saquon Barkley, who still hasn't faced an opposing live defense since he went down to a torn ACL on Sept. 20 of last year but finally took hits in a practice Thursday.

Golladay admitted when speaking with reporters the Big Blue offense may not be firing on all cylinders in the first quarter of the regular-season opener against the Denver Broncos on Sept. 12.

"I mean, I'm excited. When I look in the huddle and see all those guys, it's very exciting," Golladay explained. "But people have been in and out of the lineup, so we're going to be a little probably slow to get off. But we've got some workers on this team and I feel like if we put the work in, I feel like we can be really special."

Golladay should maybe ask fans of the New York Mets about how understanding supporters in the region are when they're forced to watch a beloved team struggle to produce positive offensive statistics. It also must be said that patience is not a virtue regarding quarterback Daniel Jones, who is on the cusp of his third NFL season and, as of today, is only linked with the Giants through the 2022 campaign.
