Kenny Pickett's throwing shade at rival will make Eagles fans miss him more

Despite making the move to trade him away, Cleveland Browns quarterback Kenny Pickett still has a special place in his heart for the Philadelphia Eagles while also taking a jab at one of the team's rivals.

Philadelphia traded Pickett to the Browns in exchange for quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson and a 2025 fifth-round pick. Pickett spent only one season with the Eagles, serving as the backup to Jalen Hurts.

It may not have been the most memorable run by a backup quarterback in franchise history, but Pickett still played a small role in the team winning the Super Bowl. That's what makes his recent comments awesome for Eagles fans.

Pickett takes an incredible shot at an Eagles rival

The Chronicle-Telegram and Medina Gazette Browns reporter Scott Petrak shared Pickett's comments to the media as he discussed his time in Philadelphia. Pickett not only complimented the Eagles' organization but also took a subtle shot at his old team, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

"I'm extremely grateful for my time in Philly. I think I was just shown how it was supposed to be done, really from the top down. When you get a chance to see what it's supposed to look like, and how it should look on a day-to-day basis, not just on Sunday's. I think it'll pay dividends for me in the future."

In his only season with the Eagles, Pickett threw for 291 yards and two touchdowns to one interception in five games. He made one start at quarterback against the Dallas Cowboys late in the season after Hurts got injured in the second matchup against the Washington Commanders. Pickett took the final snaps of the Super Bowl win against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Pittsburgh selected Pickett in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, as he started 25 games in two seasons with the franchise. While he threw 13 touchdowns and 13 interceptions with the Steelers, Pickett did have a 14-10 record as a starter there.

Philadelphia and Pittsburgh have had a long history together that dates back to 1933. The in-state rivalry has had some classic moments. It's been the Eagles, though, that have dominated the series all-time with a 50-29-3 record.

Last year, the two teams played in Philadelphia, which resulted in Pickett getting his revenge on the Steelers with a 27-13 win. The key moment of the game was Philadelphia holding on to the ball for the last 10 minutes and 29 seconds, as they took 21 plays for 88 yards, including two fourth-down conversions, which sealed the game.

Pickett may have unintentionally taken a shot at Pittsburgh, but he demonstrated the importance of Philadelphia to him and how it contributed to his career. Eagles fans will be rooting for Pickett to succeed on the side, except for when they play against each other.
