Kerby Joseph's philanthropy takes the Lions' safety a route we've never really seen before

The Detroit Lions have some time off at the moment before they head back to work and start training camp early in July, due to their participation in the Hall of Fame game. However, one Lions player is still putting in significant work off the field.

All-Pro safety Kerby Joseph went back to Orlando this week to officially open the Kerby B. Joseph Center. We've seen many professional athletes open up recreation centers or gyms, but I don't recall seeing many athletes open a medical facility or health clinic. That's what Joseph is doing here.

Joseph will be teaming up with MedHealth Clinical on the project, and the center will be a standard doctor's office where patients can have their primary doctors.

Joseph's inspiration to team with MedHealth and open the clinic was all based on someone very important to him.

"The motivation for opening up the clinic, honestly, came from my mother. My mother suffered from a mild stroke." Joseph said. "I was always in the gym working her out, making sure that left side was all good, taking her to rehab and stuff like that, I feel like the best thing to do is help everybody else, because I have the ability to do that."

The center will open up on Friday, June 20, and will have a ribbon cutting that day, offer free physicals to kids the following day, and then Joseph will hold a football camp to wrap it all up.
