Kevin Stefanski confirms worst fears about Nick Chubb injury

Running back Nick Chubb suffered a gruesome-looking injury during the Cleveland Browns-Pittsburgh Steelers matchup on Monday night at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, Penn. The initial diagnosis of the injury is as bad as it looked.

Chubb was brought down by a low hit from Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick during a 1st-and-goal situation in the second quarter. Chubb’s left leg appeared to be hyperextended to a gruesome extent.

The graphic slo-mo replay of the hit against Chubb had fans fearing a serious injury. Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski later confirmed those fears. Several reports have come out indicating Stefanski has declared Chubb out for the season with a “significant” knee injury.

Chubb is widely considered to be one of the best running backs in the NFL. The Browns running back finishes the season with 28 carries for 170 yards in two games. Chubb has ranked top three in total rushing yards over the past two seasons.

Chubb previously suffered a season-ending injury to the same leg back while playing for Georgia in 2015. The Browns star’s injury had several of his NFL peers sending him well-wishes after the incident.
