Kevin Stefanski handed a game ball to a Cleveland Browns Pro Bowler for the perfect reason after beating the Packers

The Cleveland Browns had a gutsy win in Week 3 that they can hang their hats on for the time being over the Green Bay Packers. Cleveland’s defense was nothing to be messed with in the 13-10 win over the visiting Packers. Clevekand was able to get their running game going late with rookie RB Quinshon Judkins and it was just what they needed to get some points on the board. A timely interception by S Grant Delpit and a huge blocked kick with under a minute to go were the difference makers.

After starting the season 0-2 with a pair of losses against AFC North teams, the Browns badly needed that win in Week 3. Cleveland went head-to-head with a very good Packers team and came out on top. The Browns had young players like Judkins, Harold Fannin Jr., Carson Schwesinger, and Mason Graham making an impact. Early returns are that the Browns may have knocked it out of the park with this current rookie class. When it came to the first game ball on Sunday afternoon after the game, Kevin Stefanski had to go with the longest tenured member of the Browns and it made a ton of sense why.

Browns LG Joel Bitonio showed who he really is in Week 3 vs. the Packers

“I gave Joel a game ball in there,” Stefanski said to the media after the game. “I can't say enough about him, the football player, the person. He was battling, he was not feeling good, he wasn’t walking real well. But he battled and that’s Joel Bitonio for you.”

Bitonio was unable to practice all week with an injured back following the two physical games against the Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens. Still, the Pro Bowl left guard warmed up pregame and decided he was good enough to be out there with his team. That comes as no surprise because that’s just who Bitonio is. You are talking about an offensive lineman who has missed two games since the 2016 season and that came in 2023.

Cleveland’s offensive line didn’t have a great day in pass protection. The Packers had two sacks and a ton of pressure on Flacco. Rashan Gary had a pair of sacks and Micah Parsons had six pressures on the Browns quarterback. Bitonio being able to give it a go was big for the Browns, who lost Dawand Jones just a few plays into the game on offense. Cleveland was already missing RT Jack Conklin heading into the game against Green Bay.

The Browns will be back at it next Sunday against a very good Detroit Lions team. It will be the second of three straight games against the NFC North for Cleveland. Getting healthier on the offensive line would be huge for the Browns, who will know more on Monday about how bad Jones’ knee injury is.
