Key stats from the 49ers' 26-21 Week 2 win vs. the Saints

The San Francisco 49ers improved to 2-0 on the season after a 26-21 Week 2 win over the New Orleans Saints at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Below are several statistics and notes from Sunday's game, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff.

With The Win...

The San Francisco 49ers have improved to 51-27-2 all-time against the Saints, including a 26-15 record on the road.
The 49ers have won five of the last eight matchups against the Saints and have won consecutive games against the Saints for the first time since the 2001 season, when the two teams were both members of the NFC West [W, 28-27 vs. NO (11/11/01); W, 38-0 at NO (1/6/02)].
The Niners have won consecutive road games to start the season for the first time since 2023 [Week 1, 30-7 at Pit. (9/10/23); Week 2, 30-23 at LAR (9/17/23)].
The 49ers became the first team to open the season with consecutive road wins with two different starting quarterbacks since the team previously accomplished the feat in 1988, according to the Elias Sports Bureau [QB Joe Montana – 34-33 at NO (9/4/88) & QB Steve Young – 20-17 at NYG (9/11/88)].
The Niners are the first team to start the season 2-0 with two different starting quarterbacks since the Minnesota Vikings in 2016, according to the Elias Sports Bureau [QB Shaun Hill – 25-16 at Ten. (9/11/16) & QB Sam Bradford – 17-14 vs. GB (9/18/16)].
San Francisco improved to 1-0 against the NFC South this season and 10-5 under head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Shanahan earned his 72nd career regular-season win, surpassing Lawrence "Buck" Shaw (1946-54) for the third-most wins by a head coach in franchise history.

With 3 TD passes on the day, Jones registered his 5th career game with 3-or-more passing TDs and his first since he threw 3 TDs vs. Phi. (9/10/23) as a member of the New England Patriots.
With 279 passing yds., 3 TDs and 0 INTs, Jones became the third QB in franchise history to throw for 250-or-more yds., 3-or-more TDs and no INTs in his first start as a member of the 49ers, joining former QB Nick Mullens [262 passing yds., 3 TDs and zero INTs vs. Oak (11/1/18)] and former QB Matt Cavanaugh [252 yds., 3 TDs and zero INTs at Phi. RB Christian McCaffrey

RB Christian McCaffrey registered 13 carries for 55 yds. on the ground to go along with 6 recepts. for 52 yds. and 1 TD through the air.
McCaffrey's TD recept. marked his first of the season and the 30th of his career. With 1 TD recept. on the day, McCaffrey joins HOF RB Marshall Faulk and HOF RB Lenny Moore as the only players in NFL history to register at least 50 rushing TDs and 30 TD recepts. in a career.
