The San Francisco 49ers improved to 4-1 on the season after a 26-23 Week 5 win over the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

Below are several statistics and notes from Thursday's game, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff.

With The Win...

  • San Francisco has improved to 79-71-3 all-time against the Rams, including a 41-35-1 record on the road.
  • The 49ers have won their 5th game on Amazon Prime's Thursday Night Football since 2022, tying the Buffalo Bills (5) for the most wins on TNF during that span. The team has won four of its last five games on TNF.
  • The 49ers have won seven of their previous nine matchups against the Rams when playing at SoFi Stadium.
  • The Niners have started the season 3-0 in the NFC West for the third time since 2002 (2019 & 2023) and the first time since the 2023 season.
  • Head coach Kyle Shanahan improved to 11-6 in the regular season vs. the Rams and 27-24 against the NFC West as head coach of the 49ers.

OT Thriller

  • The 49ers beat the Rams by a score of 26-23 in overtime, marking the team's first overtime win since defeating the Las Vegas Raiders by a score of 37-34 at LV (1/1/23).

49ers Offense

  • On the 49ers' 2nd offensive possession of the game, the unit registered a 17-play, 91-yd. drive that resulted in a 1-yd. TD recept. by RB Christian McCaffrey.
  • The unit's 17-play drive marked the most plays in a scoring drive that resulted in a TD since the unit registered an 18-play TD drive vs. LAR (11/15/21).
  • It also marked the most plays in a scoring drive that resulted in any points since 11/21/21 at Jax., when the unit registered a 20-play drive that resulted in a FG.

QB Mac Jones

  • QB Mac Jones completed 33 of his 49 passing atts. for 342 yds. and 2 TDs with a passer rating of 100.9 on the night. His passing TDs gave him 6 this season and 60 in his career.
  • Jones' 342 passing yds. marked his 6th career game with 300-or-more passing yds. and his first since he threw for 316 passing yds. vs. Phi. (9/10/23) as a member of the New England Patriots.
  • It also marked the 5th time in Jones' career that he has registered 300-or-more passing yds. and 2-or-more passing TDs. In addition to his 316 passing yds. vs. Phi. (9/10/23), Jones also threw 3 passing TDs.
  • Jones opened the game by leading an 8-play, 72-yd. scoring drive that resulted in a 6-yd. TD pass to TE Jake Tonges. Jones completed all of 5 of his passing atts. for 77 yds. on that drive, marking the 3rd-most passing yds. by a 49ers QB on an opening drive since at least 2000 [QB Jimmy Garoppolo, 81 yds. at NO (12/8/19); QB Colin Kaepernick, 79 yds. vs. Arz. RB Christian McCaffrey
