Veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers announced he would be playing his 22nd and final season in the NFL. After the announcement, he claimed he would become ‘invisible’ like the villain, Keyser Soze, from the 1995 film ‘The Usual Suspects.’

Rodgers reunited with his franchise, the Pittsburgh Steelers, for his final season. During his appearance on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’, he shared his retirement timeline and his decision to sign a one-year deal with the Steelers.

“When this is done, it’s Keyser Soze, and you won’t see me… I’m not doing TV,” Rodgers said. “I’m not gonna be out and about.”

On Wednesday, Rodgers explained that this would be the final chapter of his career as he prepares for one last run in Pittsburgh.

Rodgers does not wish to appear in television programs, podcasts, or celebrity events post his NFL career. Instead, he wants to live with his wife in a private lifestyle once he retires.

He admitted that public attention around his personal life has often felt uncomfortable. Despite being one of the NFL’s well-known figures for two decades, he insisted that fame was not the driving force behind his progress and decisions.

The four-time MVP hopes to finish his career on a more stable note under his previous head coach, Mike McCarthy. The Steelers believe his experience and leadership can elevate the roster.

Aaron Rodgers Reunites With The Steelers for Another Year

The 42-year-old Rodgers would be playing his 22nd NFL season with the Steelers. He previously played for the Green Bay Packers (2005-2022), when he was selected 24th overall in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft.

After his two-year tenure with the New York Jets, Rodgers signed a one-year contract with the Steelers in 2025.

He decided to return to the Steelers when the organization hired his former Packers’ coach, Mike McCarthy, to replace their longtime head coach, Mike Tomlin, who retired after 19 seasons in Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh’s decision to hire McCarthy played a major role in Rodgers’ comeback, as per ESPN’s Brooke Pryor.

Rodgers made his decision to come back after April’s NFL Draft and suggested McCarthy as a coaching candidate to the Steelers’ general manager, Omar Khan.

Rodgers threw for 3,322 yards, completing 65.7% of his passes for 6.7 yards per attempt last year. He scored 24 touchdowns and 7 interceptions, leading the team to the AFC North title and the playoffs.

The Steelers have brought back Rodgers with the intent of being a team that hasn’t posted a losing record since 2003, and hoping to give another shot at the playoffs in the 2026 season.
