Kirk Cousins ties woeful NFL record with latest performance

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins has played in a Big Ten championship game, the NFL playoff games, and even Pro Bowls, but there’s something about playing in prime time that seems to rattle the 34-year-old QB.

With the Vikings 24-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on 'Monday Night Football' — a game in which Cousins threw for just 221 yards with three interceptions and a 51.1 passer rating — the three-time Pro Bowler fell to 2-10 in his career on MNF, tying Jim Everett and Vince Evans for the worst record by a starting QB in Monday games in NFL history, per NFL Research.

Only five quarterbacks have more 'MNF' losses than Cousins — Brett Favre (19), Dan Marino (18), John Elway (12), Don Strock (12), and Eli Manning (11). Of the 11 quarterbacks with double-digit 'MNF' losses, Cousins is one of three with a winning percentage below 20.

In Monday night games, Cousins has completed 63.2 percent of his passes for 2,875 yards, 17 touchdowns and 11 interceptions with a passer rating of 85.2, which is 15 points lower than his passer rating in Sunday games (100.0). He’s just 2-4 as the Vikings starter on 'MNF', with both of his wins coming against the Chicago Bears.

The Michigan State alum has also thrown an interception in five straight Monday night games, and he’s turned the ball over 13 turnovers in 12 Monday games.

Cousins also fell to 1-19 as a starter when throwing multiple interceptions. His only win with one or more picks come in a 36-28 triumph over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Dec. 9 of last year when he completed 14 of 31 passes for 216 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
