Kirk Herbstreit still has his former ESPN colleague David Pollack on his mind on Tuesday.
On Monday, Pollack, who worked at ESPN from 2009 until being laid off in 2023, revealed that his wife Lindsey has brain cancer and is set to undergo surgery later this week. It is the first time Pollack has shared his wife's health battle with the public.
"I do not share much of my personal life on social media but today is gonna be different. If you are the praying type please lift up my wife Lindsey. She has brain cancer and surgery is Wednesday at Duke. So thankful to serve a loving God that meets us in our struggles!" he wrote.
Herbstreit responded to Pollack's tweet Monday night, offering up prayers to his former College GameDay coworker and his ailing wife.
On Tuesday afternoon,, Herbstreit again let the world know he has the Pollack family in his thoughts.
Hopefully, everything goes smoothly with Lindsey Pollack's surgery tomorrow, and we get a positive update on her status in the coming days.
Herbstreit, meanwhile, has been dealing with his family's own cancer fight over the last several months. Back in January, one day after calling the College Football Playoff national title game for ESPN, Herbstreit revealed on "The Pat McAfee Show" that his wife Alison had been diagnosed with breast cancer.
“I haven’t really talked about this publicly, but Ali my wife faced some stuff. It’s been a tough year for me behind the scenes,” Herbstreit told McAfee.
“My wife got diagnosed with breast cancer, Ben dies, it was just a lot of emotion. And when you do what we do, you endure. You do your job. And I think what happened, I couldn’t predict it, but when they [Ohio State] won … it was like almost, I don’t know, maybe a release of all that pent-up stuff. And it just got the best of me. I’m an emotional guy in general and when things touch my heart, I’m not good at talking when that happens.”
Herbstreit and his wife met as students at Ohio State. They were married in 1998 and have four sons.
