Russell Wilson and his wife Ciara have created for themselves an NFL legacy as they now figure out the quarterback's future after one season with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
"It's been one of the best years for me, personally, to be a Pittsburgh Steeler; Obviously, I hope I'm here,'' Wilson said recently as he enters free agency amid rumors that the now-Pete Carroll-led Las Vegas Raiders could be interested in his services.
Along their path, Russell and Ciara became friendly with Kobe Bryant and his family. And on Sunday - the five-year anniversary of the tragic deaths pf the NBA legend Kobe and his daughter Gianna - the Wilsons are taking a moment to celebrate the greatness of the Los Angeles Lakers star.
Russell used social media and wrote, "Psalm 147:3 'He heals the brokenhearted and bings up their wounds."
Ciara, 39, posted another tribute, the singer writing, "2.8.24 ♾️. Kobe & Gigi forever in our hearts ❤️."
Kobe was 41 and his daughter just 13 when they passed away following a helicopter crash. Bryant is now cited often by a generation of athletes, in every sport, as a model of spectacular talent being fulfilled through an intensity that's come to be called "Mamba Mentality.''
Said Wilson a few years ago: "He's one of the first things that come to mind, in just what he represented, how he inspired people."
