The 2025 NFL draft is just over a month away and there are two quarterbacks who are battling to be the first taken at their position. Those quarterbacks are Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders.
Over the last couple of months, the two players have been viewed as the likely top two picks in the draft. That may not end up being the case, but they're expected to be the top two quarterbacks taken.
Amid all of the speculation about which quarterback will be the better NFL player, one former star player spoke out with his opinion on the matter.
Kurt Warner, an NFL Hall of Fame quarterback, recently spoke out and made it clear who he thinks the better quarterback will be.
During a Wednesday appearance on "The Joel Klatt Show," Warner explained why he thinks Ward is worthy of being the No. 1 overall pick.
"I think he's just got a little uniqueness to the way he throws the football," Warner said. "Maybe a little more muscle on the ball. He has the ability to throw the ball off platform. So, I think you put [Ward] at the top because what if that talent transfers to the next level? Do we have something beyond that?"
Ward is coming off of a 2024 season with the Miami Hurricanes where he threw for 4,313 yards, 39 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He also completed 67.2 percent of his passes and rushed for 204 yards and four more touchdowns.
Sanders, on the other hand, completed 74% of his passes for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He also scored four rushing touchdowns.
Both quarterbacks will have a chance to be special NFL players.
In a new mock draft on March 13, Fox Sports has Ward being the No. 1 overall pick by the Tennessee Titans and Sanders going No. 4 to the Las Vegas Raiders in a trade up scenario, tracking right along with Warner's opinion.
