The Dolphins were looking for a tight end after trading away Jonnu Smith, and the best option at first seemed to be Pitts. They instead went for Waller who had recently retired, and that has left Pitts in Atlanta for the time being.
Pitts had been in and out of trade rumors for months, and up until the Smith trade he was not heavily linked anywhere. The Dolphins went against trading for Pitts as that could have been a way pricier trade than going safe for Waller.
Entering his fifth season now, the expectations are higher than ever if Pitts wants to stay in Atlanta for a long time. He has 10 career touchdowns, which is very low for a skill player who was drafted fourth overall.
With the Dolphins completely out of the race, there are some teams that could still possibly be interested, but as of right now Pitts will get ready for a potential breakout season. He has a new quarterback that will get many pass calls in 2025 and could open up a new world for Pitts.
As training camp nears, it seems that no move will be made for the tight end, and there will be a lot to look forward to, as he is still young and can be highly productive. There is still a long road to the 2025 season, and the Falcons could still look to make some changes.
As of right now, Pitts will continue to get comfortable with Michael Penix Jr. at quarterback, and will look to help Bijan Robinson and Drake London, to build an unstoppable offense.
