Kyle Shanahan happy to be out of Washington
Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

Kyle Shanahan spent four years as the offensive coordinator of the Washington Redskins, and it sounds like he doesn’t have very fond memories of the experience.

Shanahan, now head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, was asked Wednesday what his favorite and least favorite parts about working for the Redskins were ahead of Sunday’s matchup between the two teams. His least favorite part was a quite incredible one-liner.

Shanahan was in Washington for the Robert Griffin III era and all that came with it. That tenure includes Washington’s most recent 10-win season and Griffin’s rise and fall as a franchise quarterback. During that time, the Redskins were considered to be a dysfunctional organization. That reputation has not changed much since, and the front office is in denial about it despite years of losing. No wonder Shanahan hated it so much.
