Kyler Murray faces hurdle to sign with new team

Even though he's already bid farewell on social media and the Arizona Cardinals agreed to a deal with Gardner Minshew, Kyler Murray is still on their roster.

He hasn't been released. He's widely expected to become available, but nothing is official yet. As such, Murray still isn't able to talk to any of the teams that might be interested in his services.

According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, it might be another day before he's actually free to discuss his situation.

Kyler Murray will have to wait for a little longer

"That means teams that are interested, including the Minnesota Vikings, they have not yet been able to speak to him," Rapoport said. "He's stuck in a bit of a limbo situation."

Rapoport explained that, unlike Murray, the Miami Dolphins will release Tua Tagovailoa at the start of the new league year on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET, so he was always going to be treated as a free agent. As such, Tagovailoa plans to sign a deal with the Atlanta Falcons after his release.

Of course, this does not mean Murray will run out of potential suitors. The Vikings are reportedly quite high on him, and teams like the New York Jets, Cleveland Browns and maybe even the Pittsburgh Steelers and Indianapolis Colts might be in the market for a veteran quarterback.

Murray can sign a one-year "prove it" deal with whoever he pleases, knowing that the Cardinals will still pay him in full.

This might be his final opportunity to live up to the hype and prove that he belongs in the league, and he'll have to be quite careful with the team he chooses to join.
