The Arizona Cardinals fired head coach Jonathan Gannon on Monday after they finished with a franchise-worst 3-14 record.

Gannon finished with a 15-36 record in three seasons, including three losing seasons and two years with double-digit losses.

After the news came, Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray posted a farewell message to his former coach.

“My guy, genuinely loved going to war with you. Appreciate who you are as a man and a coach. Warpath.”

Murray has spent his entire NFL career with the Cardinals, but the 2025 season was a difficult one as he made just five starts due to injury.

Even so, the Cardinals had decided to stick with Jacoby Brissett at QB even if Murray was healthy.

Reports surfaced previously that Murray could decide to stay in Arizona should the Cardinals overhaul their front office, but as of Monday, GM Monti Ossenfort is staying put despite Gannon being let go.

Still, Gannon and Murray spent the past three seasons together, and the Cardinals coach had a strong statement for Murray before the season finale, via team reporter Darren Urban.

“I know he’s probably not happy how the season went with his health. He’ll come back better than ever.”

It’s the end of Gannon’s run in Arizona, and now the focus will shift to a new head coach and the uncertain future regarding Murray.
