Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is expected to have a new home for the 2026 NFL season.
Murray, the No. 1 pick from the 2019 NFL Draft, has 20,460 passing yards, 3,193 rushing yards and 153 total touchdowns so far in his career with the Cardinals. Although he's the most talented option on their roster, he's coming off an injury-riddled season and has a hefty contract. With a new coaching staff set to take over, there's a good chance he'll be traded this offseason.
The Indianapolis Colts and New York Jets have been mentioned as potential suitors for Murray. However, it sounds like he prefers to stay in the NFC.
SKOR North’s Phil Mackey reported that Murray "would be interested" in playing for the Minnesota Vikings next season. Although his feelings about Minnesota haven't been confirmed yet, ESPN’s Kevin Seifert expects the Vikings to "take a big swing" for a quarterback this offseason.
"In the big picture, McCarthy is a talented player who just turned 23 and has a total of 10 NFL starts. Few NFL teams would give up on a quarterback with that profile, and many team builders are particularly enamored with optimizing a quarterback’s rookie contract. Adofo-Mensah was one of them, but his departure is a reminder of the range of outcomes that approach can lead to," Seifert said. "If anything, these events increase the chances that the Vikings will take a big swing at finding a veteran quarterback who could start in 2026. The only thing more damaging than making the mistakes the Vikings made last season would be to repeat them this year."
ESPN reporter Josh Weinfuss believes the Cardinals will get a Day 2 pick in return for Murray. If the market for him is strong, maybe they'll land a second-round pick.
“An NFC source believes the starting price for Murray, if Arizona is interested in trading him, could start with a second-round pick. That source believes if the Cardinals can trade Murray, they will. The league source believes Murray’s market starts with a third-round pick,” Weinfuss wrote. “That source compared Murray’s situation with Geno Smith’s when he was traded from Seattle to Las Vegas last March for a third-round.”
It's important to note that Murray is owed $36.8 million in fully guaranteed salary and bonuses for the 2026 season. Teams interested in him have to be comfortable with that price tag.
