On Wednesday, Sept. 17 Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray found himself apologizing for a social media post that sparked reaction and was quickly deleted by the star quarterback.

Murray's post show the former No. 1 overall pick wearing a vintage Michael Vick jersey from his time at Virginia Tech. Along with Murray in the photo was one of his two pitbulls, Trunks, which sparked strong reaction from fans given Vick's history.

The former Atlanta Falcons star quarterback spent 21 months in prison after pleading guilty in 2007 to operating a dog fighting ring involving pitbulls. After serving his sentence Vick went on to have a strong career with the Philadelphia Eagles all while contributing to animal rights causes.

After seeing the reaction from fans, Murray opted to deleted the post.

“In no way, shape or form do I condone animal cruelty or dog fighting, whatever it is,” Murray said. “For me personally, you all saw me wear the Michael Vick jersey. A player that I admire very much growing up, and then just being at home with my pup.”

"They both get treated like kings," Murray added of his two dogs. "So, it's not like in no way, shape, or form am I condoning that. But, yes, I saw how it affected people and decided to take it down. So, I apologize to anybody and whoever I affected with that."

Murray and the Cardinals face off against the San Francisco 49ers on Sept. 21.
