The Minnesota Vikings bolstered their quarterback room in a major way this week, signing Kyler Murray to a one-year, $1.3 million contract.
Murray, the No. 1 pick from the 2019 NFL Draft, was released by the Arizona Cardinals at the start of the new league year. They'll owe him $36.8 million for the 2026 season. While it must have been tough leaving Arizona after all these years, it sounds like Murray is thrilled about his future in Minnesota.
During this Thursday's introductory press conference, Murray revealed that he grew up a fan of the Vikings.
"Genuine fandom, ran deep. Vikings gear through and through. A lot of purple in my household," Murray told reporters. "I cried real tears whenever Brett (Favre) threw that interception. I cried real tears that day."
Murray's fandom was verified by NFL fans this Friday. They found a tweet from Murray after the Vikings went 3-13 during the 2011 season.
"We'll be back next season," Murray wrote on Jan. 1, 2012. "Superbowl Bound."
The Vikings drastically improved in 2012, making the playoffs with a 10-6 record. Future Hall of Fame running back Adrian Peterson carried Minnesota's offense that year, rushing for 2,097 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Just about every single NFL fan and media member expects Murray to be the regular-season starter for the Vikings. After all, J.J. McCarthy only completed 57.6% of his passes last season for 1,632 yards with 11 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell, however, isn't interested in naming a starter in March.
"Unless I’m confused in any way, shape or form, I don’t believe we have to name one of those currently," O'Connell told reporters Thursday.
We can't wait to see if Murray revitalizes his career in Minnesota.
