The Arizona Cardinals got some clarity on Kyler Murray’s recovery progress heading into Week 7.

Murray missed the Cardinals’ matchup against the Indianapolis Colts last week due to a lingering foot injury. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Murray will remain on the sidelines this week as Arizona hosts the Green Bay Packers.

The report also indicated that Murray is expected to return to the field in Week 9, when the Cardinals visit the Dallas Cowboys on Nov. 3.

With the Cardinals getting a bye in Week 8, Murray will get a full extra week of recovery time before getting back under center.

Journeyman QB Jacoby Brissett started in Murray’s place against the Colts. While the Cardinals ultimately lost to the Colts 31-27, Brissett had the Arizona offense moving to the tune of 320 passing yards and two touchdowns.

Brissett’s one-game sample led some to question whether Murray’s grip on the starting job was iron-clad. It didn’t help that Cardinals GM Monti Ossenfort had a cryptic response when asked about the matter earlier this week.

Through five games this season, Murray has thrown for 962 yards with 6 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. The Cardinals are 2-3 with Murray starting at QB.
