Last year was the definition of a breakout season for Los Angeles Rams running back Kyren Williams. Despite only playing in 12 games, Williams put himself on the map as one of the best running backs in the NFL today.

Willliams finished third in the NFL with 1,144 rushing yards to go along with 12 touchdowns while also adding another 206 yards and three touchdowns receiving. He was also one of just five running backs to average at least five yards per carry and was named to his first Pro Bowl as well as being an Second Team All-Pro selection.

And Williams’ season did not go unnoticed by those around the league as the back became the first Rams player to appear on the NFL Top 100 list, coming in at No. 78:

It is a well-deserved selection for Williams who comes in ahead of such big names as Aaron Rodgers, Trevor Lawrence and Saquon Barkley. And the scary part for Williams is that there is still so much more room for him to grow despite what was an outstanding 2023 season.

Williams missed four games due to a sprained ankle and also began the year behind Cam Akers. In four of the Rams’ first five games, Williams had 15 or fewer carries and 53 or fewer yards. But once the Rams really made him their primary back and began feeding him the ball he never looked back and the team thrived because of it.

Now it will be up to he and the Rams to build on his outstanding season. The team drafted Blake Corum to back him up, but make no mistake, Williams is the unquestioned lead back for this team and with another great season he could be jumping much higher on this list a year from now.

After the type of season Kyren Williams had in 2023, some may not care for the team using a third-round pick on another running back. But to the contrary, Williams feels the Rams drafting Blake Corum will only benefit him.

In an interview, Williams spoke about the need to create more explosive plays not just in the run game, but also in the passing game. The Rams back noted that Corum joining the team could allow for him to showcase what he can do as a receiver both out of the backfield and potentially lining up in the slot.
