Lamar Jackson News Emerges After Ravens QB Move

After a promising 4-1 start to the 2026 NFL season, the Baltimore Ravens have seen their season completely unravel. Now 4-5 after a loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday, quarterback injuries have been at the center of the Ravens’ collapse.

Lamar Jackson is on injured reserve after suffering a right thumb injury in his first game back after missing three games with a high ankle sprain. Tyler Huntley was the backup to Jackson, but he is now dealing with an injury of his own. Huntley suffered a severe turf toe injury in Week 8 against the Buffalo Bills and will miss the remainder of the season.

Undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano started Baltimore’s Thursday night matchup against Jacksonville, but the Ravens’ offense once again struggled to produce in a 33-10 loss.

The Ravens have now been held to 13 points or fewer in four straight games, leaving the team in a difficult position as it attempts to stay alive in the AFC North race.

With Jackson and Huntley unavailable, the Ravens have had to make significant changes in their quarterback room ahead of the second half of the season.

The Ravens announced that they released quarterback Austin Reed. Baltimore recently acquired veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett from the Arizona Cardinals, and Reed’s release clears room for Brissett on the active roster.

Brissett gives the Ravens an experienced option who could take over the offense while Baltimore waits to see whether Jackson will be able to return later in the season.

According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, “Jackson’s chances for playing again this season depend on his recovery,” while another factor will be whether “Brissett can keep the Ravens alive long enough to make a potential late-season return worthwhile.”

The pressure is on Brissett, who has a chance to keep the Ravens’ playoff hopes alive if he can turn around a struggling offense. However, another extended losing stretch could give the team little reason to have Jackson return from injury late in the season.

For now, the Ravens will hope Brissett can stabilize their season while they continue to monitor Jackson’s recovery.
