Lamar Jackson's Mom Has Major Role Behind Ravens Star's Change

This 2025 NFL season, fans will see a different side of Lamar Jackson with the Baltimore Ravens, thanks to his mom Felicia Jones.

Jackson is already a widely successful quarterback in the NFL. He is a two-time NFL MVP and was close to winning the award once again last campaign, finishing second in the voting behind Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen. He's also a four-time Pro Bowler and three-time First Team All-Pro.

Despite his individual accolades, though, one honor has evaded him and the Ravens: the Super Bowl.

Baltimore has made the playoffs six times since the 28-year-old QB arrived as a first-round pick in 2018. They lost to the Kansas City Chiefs and Bills in the playoffs over the last two seasons, with the farthest they have gone being the conference championship.

Amid the Ravens' lack of playoff success, though, Jackson was inspired to make a change with himself — and his mom Felicia Jones had a role in it.

In a recent interview with the Baltimore Sun, Jackson shared how his mother told him that he needed to be like how he was during his years playing youth football.

"That’s when I was vocal. When things weren’t happening, I’d tell people get the [expletive] off the field," Jackson shared.

"Now I’m kinda doing the same, and my guys are looking at me like, 'He's talking to me a certain way.' Like, not no disrespect. We're competitive out here. When I see you lacking that, get off the field and put somebody else in. They don't shy away. They like to compete as well. But if I feel like you’re jogging out here and we going full speed, get off the [expletive] field. They come back to me and talk to me and I let them know we're not having that this year."

Jackson emphasized that he and the Ravens are "trying to get somewhere" this year, so while he "let things like that happen in the past," he's not "not having that no more."

Sure enough, it will be interesting to see how far Jackson can take the Ravens this 2025. He's clearly more motivated than ever, and the good news is he has his mother to support him.

Jackson has credited his mom for his success on the field, even calling her the "best coach" he has ever had, according to People.
