Lane Johnson, Saquon Barkley cement virtual legacy with exclusive club inclusion

How Barkely and Johnson earned their rightful spots in the 99 Club

Barkley's rise to stardom shouldn't shock anyone based on his career output going into Year 8. A three-time pro bowler, OPOY, Rookie OPOY, All-Pro, and now Super Bowl Champion, Barkley has been one of the NFL's best players when healthy. Barkley's Madden rating has improved 17 points since his rookie season going back to Madden 19 (82 OVR), and now joins the elite privilege of Madden's "99-Club".

Johnson also joins the "99-Club" after his 12th NFL season. Johnson, the Eagles 1st first-round pick in the 2013 NFL draft, has been nothing but dominant since coming into his own in 2017, earning 6 Pro Bowls and 6 All-Pro awards (two-time first-team, four-time second-team), in addition to his two Super Bowl Championship rings. Johnson started his Madden rating at an 81 overall in the anniversary edition of Madden (Madden 25) and joins Barkley in the elite club.

Johnson and Barkley now join David Akers (Madden 06) and Brian Dawkins (Madden 04) as the four Eagles to have the distinguished honor of the exclusive "99-Club". The honor is also paired with Barkley joining Donovan McNabb as one of the two Eagles to have been a Madden Cover athlete.

While many of these honors contribute to the storied careers of Johnson and Barkley, two members of the team who could one day be inducted into the Hall of Fame, the mission for the Eagles is clear. Defend their title and add another Lombardi to their collection.
