Las Vegas Raiders are checking off yet another box on their offseason checklist before it even really starts

The Las Vegas Raiders are checking a ton of boxes off of their offseason checklist before it really even starts, and the latest one is a decision that was long overdue, but was worth the wait.

The Raiders have a long history of having a certain type of player that fits the mold of what the franchise is and stands for. Back in the day, in the 80s and 90s, and even early 2000s, the Raiders played with a nasty attitude, and they played hard 24/7, and didn't care about anything but football. Since their last playoff win in the 2000s, they haven't had a player like that, really.

The biggest one that resembles that, is easily Maxx Crosby, who, by this point, is this era's Mr. Raider. He's a fan favorite that backs it up with his play on the field, talks trash, plays every single snap, and wants nothing more than to win a Super Bowl in Las Vegas.

However, his contract heading into 2025 was a bit weird. There wasn't as much guaranteed money as he would have liked there to be. So, like any star or superstar football player would do, he asked to negotiate a new deal, because he wants to be in Las Vegas for the long run, but he also wants to get the money he deserves.

And believe me, he deserves it. But no one was expecting what happened on Wednesday.

Raiders extend Maxx Crosby

On Wednesday, during the flurry of news on the Raiders side of things, like ten minutes after the Raiders signed former Cincinnati Bengals OG Alex Cappa, the Raiders signed Crosby to a new extension, but the numbers were much more than I think anyone expected.

According to several reports, which all flurried in at the same time, Crosby's deal is a three-year extension worth a $106.5 million deal with $91.5 million guaranteed, making him the highest paid non-quarterback in NFL history.

Maxx Crosby deserves every penny, and John Spytek, the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers assistant GM and first time GM, are getting an early start on their offseason.
