With everyone's 2025 schedule out now, it's clear to see how some teams have a more favorable schedule than others, specifically in certain parts of the season. For the Las Vegas Raiders, their first half of the season is great.
I mean, they get a bye week right at Week 8, and then before that, they play home and away every other week, alternating every week, so it's not like they have a long road trip or long home stretch. It's about as good as it gets, besides the fact that the first half of the schedule only has one primetime game, against the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday Night Football. But, to be fair, they only play three playoff teams from last season in those first seven games.
And, you can make the case that the Chargers weren't really a playoff team last season, considering how their game against the Houston Texans went. But after that first half of the season, right after that Week 8 bye week, the Raiders could really run into some trouble.
They have a four week stretch to end the season that is pretty brutal, with games against the Chargers, Denver Broncos, Philadelphia Eagles, and Texans -- all playoff teams, two of them division rivals. Not to mention, they have a pretty clear trap game before that stretch, too.
Coming off the bye week in Week 8, they could be forced into a trap game. They draw the Jacksonville Jaguars, which you would think is a goid draw. Sure, they could very well be a very bad team. But, they could also be a sneaky good team. Look at some of the moves they made this offseason, inclduing trading up in the 2025 NFL Draft to take Travis Hunter.
Then you can also factor in that sometimes, coming off of a bye week, results in teams being sluggish and not as locked in. I'm not saying that will happen under Pete Carroll, but it's not impossible.
When I look at this schedule, I see a few trap games, and three of them are teams in the AFC South in the Jaguars, the Tennessee Titans, and the Indianapolis Colts. But man, I really feel like that Jaguars game could trip some people up.
In my predictions, I still have the Raiders winning, but anything could happen in this crazy league.
