Las Vegas Raiders LB Devin White lays down the hammer revealing what he wants to prove to the world in 2025

There was a time when Devin White was considered one of the best linebackers in the league, and some even said he was the best after that insane playoff run he had with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021. The Las Vegas Raiders want that Devin White back.

But that version of himself hasn't been present since then, and we are going into the 2025 season. Since, he has been with the Philadelphia Eagles and the Houston Texans before signing with the Raiders, and he has even made some practice squad appearances since then, too. So, it's safe to say that things got a bit off the rails for White.

But the love for the game is certainly still there, and you can see that when you watch some of the clips of him at mandatory minicamp, and even the way he talks about it to the media. It's been a far fall from grace for White, and he knows that. But he knows that he wants to get back to that level.

And in 2025, he's ready to prove everyone wrong.

"Just prove that I'm a leader, I'm still a leader, I can have a high impact on the team even in the community as well," White said this week. "Just showing I'm a good person, I've got a good personality. I'm a team favorite. All my teammates like me and they know they're going to get the best out of me. Those are the main goals, and just also just going out there and playing to that All-Pro, Pro Bowl level.

"If that's not why I'm playing the game, then I shouldn't be out there. So, I can put that on the front street as what I'm trying to do, and that's just the best I could be, and I'm surrounded by a bunch of guys that can help me be the best that I can be. Because it's 11 men on the field when we're going to war on defense. So, those guys are going to make me better, and I'm going to make them better."

I'll be honest -- this linebacker room is not what it was a year ago. This one has many more flaws, but a big upside in the run-defense aspect of their games. The flaw with this room is that, based on what everyone in the room showed on film from last season, no one can cover.

I will give defensive coordinator Patrick Graham the benefit of the doubt that neither could Robert Spillane before he came over from the Pittsburgh Steelers, and he had some big-time interceptions in Graham's defense. Now, he is with the New England Patriots.

So, you have to hope that Graham uses Devin White as a guy that he can put in the right spots and scheme into success, much like he did with Spillane. If not, then what we saw last year from White won't work on the field.

If White can bounce back, though, and show some flashes of his old self, this LB room could be pretty solid.
