The Las Vegas Raiders are about to play three of their most important games of the 2025 season. What happens in these next three games will pretty much tell the story of what kind of team they will be at the end of the year. In this game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Raiders are set to elevate fan favorite cornerback Greedy Vance off the practice squad.
They need all the help they can get, and in the preseason, Vance was nearly lights out with a few mistakes here and there.
The Jaguars are a better offense when they are running the ball well with Travis Etienne. When they are a passing team first, the offense doesn't look as great, and now with Travis Hunter, their second-best wide receiver, out for a few games, their run game should be the focus.
However, with a dynamic quarterback like Trevor Lawrence, one of the best wide receivers in the league in Brian Thomas Jr., and some other weapons on the offense, you can't play scared there. The pass defense needs to be on point, too, because that run game will only set up the deep ball.
Sure, BTJ is having a pretty bad second season, but he's still a guy who can go off. Vance could very well not play much at all in this game, given that he was on the practice squad before. However, he was one of the best defensive backs during the preseason.
Of course, he's also a former USC Trojans cornerback, which means he's a fan favorite, too. Vance is quite versatile as a cornerback, able to match up against various types of wide receivers and play in both zone and man coverage.
The Jaguars also made some practice squad elevations, with linebacker Branson Combs and wide receiver Tim Jones getting the call-up.
