The last seven years have been anything but smooth for the Las Vegas Raiders.
Coaching turnover, scandal, a new location, a lot has changed.
But one player in particular has remained commonplace, and he's not going anywhere...
With a new APY of $22 million, Miller now ties Eagles OT Jordan Mailata for seventh place in terms of the NFL's highest-paid offensive lineman via average annual salary. With Miller on the last year of his deal, he is now tied to the team through the 2028 season, which will be 10 years after the raiders selected him in the first round.
Just for reference, since the team took him 15th overall back in 2018, Miller has played under Jon Gruden, Rich Bisaccia, Josh McDaniels, Antonio Pierce and now Pete Carroll at head coach. He is also on, (get this) his seventh general manager.
And through all of that turnover, all of those news schemes and voices and ideas and egos, Kolton Miller is still with the team and just signed another extsnsion. It speaks to not only how rock-solid of a player he is, but how durable he is both physically and mentally.
Miller has never played in less than 13 games in his entire career. He may have yet to make an All-Pro team or a Pro Bowl, but he is an above-average player at one of the most important positions in the sport.
So by signing Miller before free agency the Raiders ensure stability for Geno Smith now, and for whomever their quarterback of the future is. At only 29 years old and with the two best tackles in the sport via Lane Johnson and Trent Williams still performing at a very high level into their mid-30s and beyond, the future of the Raiders' line is bright after Wednesday night.
