With just five weeks left to go in the regular season, true MVP candidates are starting to separate themselves from the pack. There's still just enough time left for an under-the-radar player to emerge as a favorite, but the time to get hot is now.

Notes and trends

Allen is the clear-cut favorite across the board, but Barkley isn't too far behind. Being a quarterback gives Allen an advantage, and one off game could end Barkley's chances. However, if Barkley breaks the single-season rushing yards records, he could have an undeniable case.

Jackson and Goff are within striking distance of Allen and Barkley, but will need to finish very strong. Jackson probably has the advantage over Goff given his rushing ability. All other candidates will need to play at a dominant level for the remainder of the season to have any shot.
