Latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft has the Steelers playing chess following a blockbuster trade for future franchise quarterback

Everyone believes the Pittsburgh Steelers and Aaron Rodgers are destined for each other.

And while that may be true, Rodgers will be 42 this year and likely to take his final snaps in football.

Because of that, Destin Adams fo A to Z Sports NFL Draft set the Steelers up with their quarterback of the future in a trade that would send shockwaves through the NFl...

Steelers trade up with Dallas Cowboys for Shedeur Sanders

TRADE: Cowboys send pick 12 to the Steelers for picks 21, 83 (third) and a 2026 second

12. Pittsburgh Steelers: Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado

Another trade comes together, and it's a big one with the Steelers making sure they have their future QB on their roster, no matter if Aaron Rodgers ever chooses to sign on the dotted line or not. If Shedeur Sanders does begin to fall like some in the league believe he will, I think the Steelers are a team to watch that could look to get aggressive and land one of the top QBs in the class.

- Destin Adams. Latest A to Z Sports Mock Draft

Shedeur Sanders is a very polarizing player. He's as tough as nails, accurate, and can distribute the ball to all areas of the field. He has an energy that his teammates will gravitate towards and he is the son of one of the greatest players to ever play in the NFL.

He also has no elite trait. He doesn't wow you with his arm, is not overly athletic, and projects to be a relatively stationary target in the pocket. Not to mention he has rubbed more than a few people and teams the wrong way during his collegiate tenure and pre-draft process.

But if there was ever a quarterback who made sense for the Steelers. It's Sanders. He has the DNA, pedigree, and bloodline that a coach like Mike Tomlin covets. So it's a real possibility, with top insiders like Adam Schefter saying Sanders would be in consideration for the Steelers...

“I was of the mind that Pittsburgh was not taking a quarterback in Round 1,” Schefter said on his podcast. “I think the only quarterback that they would consider, me reading between the lines, would be Shedeur. But I can’t imagine he’s gonna slide to 21. Would Pittsburgh be willing to trade up to a certain point to go get Shedeur Sanders, if he gets past those other spots?"

We'll find out the answer to that question in a little over two weeks.
