The Denver Broncos are not rebuilding.

In fact, the team is right in the AFC playoff mix at 5-5 on the year.

The problem, as it has been since Peyton Manning retired, is quarterback play.

Teddy Bridgewater is just not doing enough to make the Broncos top contenders and for some reason, Drew Lock is not allowed to even step foot onto the field.

That means an upgrade is needed in 2022.

If the goal is another veteran option, which is likely with this organization, the core of the roster must be strong.

The latest decision made by the front office seems geared toward making the team look as attractive as possible for any veteran seeking a new team.

Courtland Sutton is locked in with a new four-year extension, establishing this receiving corps for years to come.

Sutton, combined with Jerry Jeudy, Tim Patrick, and KJ Hamler truly forms a top receiving unit if the right quarterback is in place to spread the ball around.

So who may the team target under center?

Several Top QBs Could Be Available

Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson are the top two names that come to mind in hypothetical trade talks.

Both are NFC quarterbacks, which may convince their respective teams to do a deal with the Broncos.

Rodgers’ impending exit from Green Bay seems all but likely given all the drama both sides dealt with this past offseason.

Even if things seem good during the season, the front office has made it clear they plan to move on soon.

As for Wilson, trade rumors surrounded him this past offseason as well.

The Seattle Seahawks appear to be out of the playoff race after falling to 3-7 and that may be the final straw for both sides to move on.

Matt Ryan is another name to keep in mind if the Atlanta Falcons want to commit to a proper rebuild with a young quarterback.

The Broncos are establishing a nice core on offense and that could mean sending several future first-round picks in exchange for a veteran quarterback.

If the result is several years of Super Bowl contention, fans should be just fine with that.
