The Kansas City Chiefs have released an updated version of their depth chart ahead of the Week 5 game against the New Orleans Saints.
Remember, these depth charts are considered "unofficial" because they're assembled by the team's PR staff and not directly compiled by the coaching staff. The accuracy of depth charts during the regular season tends to be better because they reflect in-game, practice observations, and roster transactions.
A few specific changes on the offensive side of the ball were reflected in the latest version of the depth chart compared to last week's version. Let's dive in.
If it wasn't apparent after rookie LT Kingsley Suamataia was benched, the Chiefs are sticking with second-year LT Wanya Morris as Patrick Mahomes' blindside protector. Last week's depth chart had yet to reflect the change, but this week left no doubt. Suamataia played just four special teams snaps in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers. Meanwhile, Morris started and played every single snap on offense.
The depth chart last week did not reflect the team's decision to sign Hunt from the practice squad and release Keaontay Ingram. This time around, Hunt is listed on the depth chart in place of Ingram. He's in the No. 2 spot at running back behind Samaje Perine, which might not reflect reality. Hunt played 45% of the offensive snaps in Week 4 against the Chargers, while Perine played just 40%. Hunt had over three times the touches compared to Perine. That also doesn't consider the fact that Carson Steele could be back into the mix after he fixes his fumbling problem.
