Latest injury update on Falcons star receiver Drake London

What made Michael Penix Jr.’s heroics in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game against the Bucs even more impressive is he did it without his top two receiving targets.

Darnell Mooney was a game-time decision that ended up being held out with a shoulder injury, and Drake London clearly tweaked something on the Falcons second-to-last drive of the game. He tried to play through it but eventually removed himself and did not return.

As of now, it’s being ruled a shoulder sprain. London is listed as day-to-day, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

London might not be talked about like some of the other top receivers in the game, but not many guys produced at a higher clip last year. He’s coming off a season in which he was fourth in receiving yards, tallying 1,271 yards on 100 catches with nine touchdowns.

It’s also overwhelmingly apparent early on that he has quickly developed a rapport with Michael Penix. London is averaging over 100 yards receiving per game with Penix under center and was on his way to another big game on Sunday before the shoulder injury.

Losing him for any amount of time would be detrimental for the team. The Falcons are already behind the eight-ball after dropping the season opener at home to the Bucs, and their schedule only gets more difficult. Four of their next five games are against the Vikings, Commanders, Bills, and 49ers.
