Latest Jon Gruden News is Turning NFL Heads
USA Today SPORTS

The NFL has seen a number of coaching changes this offseason, with the New Orleans Saints as the last remaining franchise without a new head coach.

Less than a week until Super Bowl LIX, the common thought is that the Saints are seeking out Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, but he won't make any decisions until after Sunday when the Eagles take on the Kansas City Chiefs in New Orleans.

If and when Moore gets that Saints job, he'll need to put together a staff, and Pro Football Talk thinks they know the best man for the job.

Mike Florio thinks former Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden could be considered for the position. And there are ties there.

Gruden was an offensive consultant for the team in 2023 and worked with Saints quarterback Derek Carr. He was also the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders - his second stint with the organization - from 2018-21, but resigned due to an email scandal from his time at ESPN.

His 15 years of NFL head coaching experience should make him one of the most sought-after names in the business. But the scandal has soured his name for many.

Gruden was once famously traded from the then-Oakland Raiders to the Bucs to replace Tony Dungy in 2002. Tampa Bay won the Super Bowl. XXXVII after the 2002 sesaon. The Raiders received the Bucs' 2002 and 2003 first-round draft picks, 2002 and 2004 second-round draft picks and $8 million in cash.

There are a lot of moving parts with this, and it's all predicated on Moore taking the Saints' job. Time will tell if this all pans out the way Florio thinks it will.
