The 2025 NFL Draft isn't until Thursday, April 24, 2025. However, we're in the final stretch of the regular season, and the draft order is nearing finalization.

There is plenty of talent in next year's NFL Draft, but the quarterback group is deemed to be weaker than usual. Despite that, Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward is in position to possibly be a Top 3 QB taken off the board in the offseason.

Several NFL teams are in need of an improvement at the position, which makes the 22-year-old quarterback an intriguing option as a Day 1 pick.

Due to the need for improved quarterback play for several teams in the league, our latest mock draft by Luke Easterling predicts an interesting landing spot for Ward. The Miami quarterback is projected to be selected by the New York Giants fourth overall in the 2025 NFL Draft.

"The Giants' quarterback situation is a you-know-what show right now, and despite a somewhat lackluster class at the position, I would expect them to target the best available passer with their top pick. Ward still needs some refinement in terms of his decision-making and accuracy at times, but he's an elite playmaker with excellent arm talent and a knack for making big things happen in clutch moments."

New York recently released starter Daniel Jones shortly after benching him in favor of Tommy DeVito. The Giants are in dire need of a quarterback and could pull the trigger on Ward if Shedeur Sanders is already taken.

If Ward goes to New York, that would pair him with rookie phenom Malik Nabers. The 21-year-old wide receiver has flashed major potential early in his career, recording 607 receiving yards and three touchdowns through eight games played entering Week 12.

The talent is all there for Nabers, but injuries have prevented him from playing in several games. Regardless, the expectation is for Nabers to become a franchise wide receiver for the Giants.

If that's the case, then Ward would join a Giants team with a valuable weapon in the passing game. Ahead of Week 12, the Giants are ranked seventh in allowing sacks (30). That means the front office must find a way to protect the quarterback to improve the offense.

Building the roster is detrimental for New York to improve. Although Ward is an exciting college prospect, he'll need better protection up front so he can develop and play at a high level.
