On Monday, Oct. 6 Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence celebrated his 26th birthday in style by taking down the Kansas City Chiefs in a thrilling 31-28 victory.
The win could have just as easily been a loss and one of the most embarrassing and unfortunate moments of Lawrence's career if he didn't pull off a miraculous touchdown run on the team's final drive. The former No. 1 overall pick took the snap and was stepped on coming out from under center which sent him sprawling to the ground.
As Lawrence attempted to regain his footing he fell again before getting up and racing across the goal line for the go-ahead touchdown.
When asked about his second touchdown run of the game that gave Jacksonville its 31-28 victory, Lawrence admitted he was in a panic as he attempted to lead his team to victory. His initial plan was to launch the ball out of the endzone, but took advantage of the lack of pressure and made the Chiefs pay.
"Just panic. Sheer panic," Lawrence said. "On the ground, we didn’t have any timeouts, I got stepped on coming up, and I was like, ‘I gotta get up.’ I was just gonna throw it out of bounds to stop the clock, but there was really no one around me so I made a play."

Fans rushed to social media to comment on the interaction between Lawrence and Rutledge.
"yeah i'd say this is in the top 1% of immediate postgame interviews i was looking forward to seeing. laura did a good job too for sure," one person said.
"One of the most honest interviews you’ll ever hear," offered another before a third said, "One of the best answers ever."
Lawrence wasn't the only one looking to throw the ball away. Jaguars coach Liam Coen admitted after the game that he wanted his quarterback to throw it out of the endzone before he scampered in for the winning score.
Throw it away!" Coen said when asked what he was thinking in the moment. "He got stepped on and he's coming out of it and you're like, 'Oh my gosh, throw it away so we can have another down.'"
Coen, though, was proud of the toughness Lawrence displayed in the moment.
"Tough moment, I can only imagine where he was at in that moment on the ground, but to get up, break three tackles, shed some dude off and go running in. That's an unbelievable individual effort," he added. "Yeah, we'd love it to be cleaner and make it a nice executed play, but at the end of the day it's about winning. I'm proud of the toughness he showed at the end of the game."
Lawrence and the Jaguars will face off against the Seattle Seahawks next week.
