It's no secret that Denver Broncos have gone all in on defense in 2025.

Their top two free agent acquisitions -- safety Talanoa Hufanga and linebacker Dre Greenlaw -- play on the defensive side of the ball, as does their 2025 first-round draft pick cornerback Jahdae Barron.

One of the Broncos' team captains, linebacker Alex Singleton, joined the DNVR Broncos Podcast on Tuesday and expressed his excitement for the acquisition of Greenlaw specifically.

"I'm really excited," Singleton said. "Watching him play the last 5-6 years has been nothing but good football. So I'm super excited. We've spent a ton of time together already. We can't wait to get after it. It's just exciting. We're still in that phase where we're not full on football yet, it's just working out and getting to know each other, and (football) is all we talk about."

Many have been surprised how much more the Broncos have invested in what was already a very good defense, which led the NFL in sacks in 2024 with 63 and was the third ranked unit against the run. Singleton went on to boldly proclaim that the 2025 Denver defense can be better than 2015's, which ranked at No. 1 overall in the league and led the team to victory in Super Bowl 50.

"It's gonna be special," Singleton said. "That's the fun part about this time of the year. It feels like Christmas. We have such a good opportunity. For us, it's to not mess this up. So now we got the mindset, this has to be everything to everybody in this building. The Broncos, for my entire time in this organization, has had a top 5 defense. Even the last 10 years, people are like, oh, the Broncos have been bad. But, their defenses have never been bad. So it's kind of one of those things where it's like, hey, let's be better than the 2015 defense. That's what we need to chase, and you have to chase it when we start practice here in a few weeks with OTAs. Then we have to be the best every single day to get where we want to go."

If the unit remains fairly healthy, the Broncos should have a shot at having the No. 1 defense in the league. They have committed to making defense their identity, and are led by one of the best defensive coordinators in the NFL in Vance Joseph. If Denver's offense can be efficient and make plays in crucial moments, the Broncos could be a legitimate contender in 2025.
