LB Pernell McPhee wants to stay with Ravens

Pernell McPhee is one of five Baltimore Ravens outside linebackers set to hit free agency when the new NFL year opens on March 17 and is familiar with how it feels to leave the organization that drafted him in 2011. McPhee signed with the Chicago Bears in March 2015 but doesn't want to go through a similar process this time around.

"Of course, the plan is to come back to Baltimore and continue to play some ball, help win a championship and build a dynasty," McPhee told Clifton Brown of the club's official website. "That's the goal. Myself and my agent haven't really talked about it yet. I've been chilling, taking care of my body. I'll think about things, but my thought is really just on coming back."

The 32-year-old tallied 15 quarterback hits and three sacks in 15 games and, just as importantly, remained healthy through Baltimore's two playoff contests. He received praise during the campaign for his ability to help stop opposing rushing attacks and for his mentorship of younger teammates.

"I think I had a good season on film, but on the stat sheet, I wish I could've finished more plays," McPhee added. "I've never been a big stat guy, but I'd like to get my numbers up. I've got to get more than three sacks. I've got to get at least five or six. I want my quarterback hits up. That's one of my offseason goals, to try to figure out how to get those numbers back up.

"I feel great. I finished the playoffs with my body feeling great. Actually, the playoffs were the best I felt all year and I think it showed on film."

Pro Football Focus is predicting McPhee's injury history and age could force him to sign a one-year deal that carries only $500,000 in guaranteed money.
