The NFL Draft is a time for celebration, as fans from all 32 teams share the same optimism about the season ahead. It's a chance for the entire league to join together for a common purpose, something that doesn't often happen in a league as competitive as the NFL.

The fun appeared to get out of hand for one NFL legend who was arrested after leaving his former team's draft party on Thursday night.

According to TMZ Sports, police arrested former Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson after he left the team's draft party. Peterson was pulled over after 3 AM on Friday morning after police noticed that he was speeding.

After an officer suspected that the former running back was under the influence, a breath test was administered. Peterson blew a .14 - well over the Minnesota legal limit of .08.

Peterson was booked in the Hennepin County Jail on fourth-degree charges of driving while impaired, but was released later Friday morning.

Peterson played the majority of his career for the Vikings after being drafted seventh overall in 2007. He was a seven-time All-Pro in Minnesota, won the 2012 MVP and Offensive Player of the Year awards and led the league in rushing three times.

He's considered one of the greatest Vikings of all time and once of the greatest running backs of all time. Peterson last played in 2021, spending time with both the Tennessee Titans and Seattle Seahawks.

Peterson also played for the New Orleans Saints, Arizona Cardinals, Washington Commanders and Detroit Lions during his career.

On Thursday, the 40-year-old running back was a guest of honor at US Bank Stadium for the Vikings' annual draft party. He made radio appearances live from the stadium ahead of the draft, but ultimately ended the night behind bars.

The Vikings had the No. 24 overall pick on Thursday night, and they selected offensive lineman Donovan Jackson out of Ohio State. Barring any trades, Minnesota has one pick on Friday night in the third round at No. 97 overall. They'll finish the draft with two additional picks on Saturday in Rounds 5 and 6 respectively, selecting at No. 139 and No. 187 overall.
